Topic: Leadership:The Power of Emotional Intelligence

Emotional intelligence is the active ingredient in leadership that gets results. We will review the scientific case for emotionally intelligent leadership, particularly as it manifests in the educational setting. The example set by the head of a school ripples through the entire culture – staff, teachers, students. And a panoply of programs offer a menu for creating social and emotional learning, and so improving achievement test scores as well as behavior.

You will learn the role of self-awareness in managing your own career, and experience practical tools for self-regulation that can help you stay calm under pressure and clear in your decision-making. You will also review the science of empathy and how it enhances a leader’s influence, and practice a workout for creating psychological safety and trust in your school’s culture.
